Lawas Own Hot Spring

Friends visited the Merarap Hot Spring of Lawas or “Ahpa Lalau” in the Lun Bawang dialect (native in the Lawas area) recently and I thought I’d share the pictures here.

This place is accessible via an hour boatride from Muara Port to Lawas Port with a further one and half drive from Lawas town. Or you can drive all the way from Brunei taking approximately 4-5 hours.

Accommodation looks basic but there is jungle trekking, hot pools and of course the river for activities.

I was told that it cost approximately RM150 including transport from Lawas Port, accommodation and meals

** Update : “How To Get There

This place sure do looks interesting. If only it is a little bit nearer, it would be perfect.

Check out their website Merarap Hotspring Lodge.

  1. it not gravel road it a off road use by Samling logging company it a dirt road and it will be very slippery when raining need to use 4X4 off road car to go there and they will provide you transportation to the hot spring location.. why i know??? because I’m from lawas hahahaha

  2. ooops, sorry wrong info, is rm150.
hehe. the place is great, great ppl also. the ppl there are very simple and not calculative. the dinner was great, they offer great food and when we were playing cards at night, they offer us chicken wings too. and gave us lots of fruits!

my room was at 1st floor and the problem is there is no mosquito net! and windows are so big. so a lot of insects came into my room. the room is v simple – no aircon, no fan, and no basin. hehe.. but i can sleep cos is quite cooling there.

the hotspring is really nice, i can’t believe tat i can soak in the hotspring whole night and watch the stars at nite. the place is really great with natural scenery.

we also went to the source of the hotspring. the walk to there is nice too, and i love the place!
